Local facilities

There are lots of local facilities nearby and full details are provided in the Visitors Book               :

  • The Botanical Gardens are just up the lane and have a Thai Restaurant, Oasis, which is open at lunchtimes
  • The Montpelier Plantation Inn is a five minute stroll up the lane, and includes informal dining at lunchtime and formal dining and a Tapas bar in the evening
  • The Hermitage Plantation Inn is five minutes drive and the Golden Rock Plantation Inn is ten minutes drive up the road. Both have restaurants for lunch and dinner
  • Nearby in Gingerland is the Best Buy Supermarket which is open seven days and week and has fresh meat and cheese counters. Other supermarkets are ten minutes away in Charlestown
  • Charlestown, the capital, still retains many of the buildings from the Georgian era, when it was founded, as well as having two museums and a number of restaurants
  • Pinneys beach, just up the road from Charlestown has a number of beach bars and restaurants, including Double Douce (where the chef used to be the head chef at the Montpelier Plantation Inn), Sunshines, Chevy’s and Lime
  • Further up north is the Four Seasons Hotel, with its championship gold course, and then other restaurants such as the Gallypot
  • The Oualie Beach Hotel on the N-W of the island has a range of  water sports activities including windsurfing and diving
  • At the very north of the island is the Nisbetts Plantation Hotel, which has restaurants by the beach and up in the main hotel
